“A wave of AI-powered children’s toys has hit shelves this holiday season, claiming to rely on sophisticated chatbots to animate interactive robots and stuffed animals that can converse with kids.”
By raising the next generation of children with AI toys, it raises the concern of if their development will be affected. Without proper stimulation in a human environment, children in the future might have altered thinking and cognitive abilities than us. “In new research, experts warn that the AI technology powering these new toys is so novel and poorly tested that nobody knows how they may affect young children,” says NBC news.
“ChatGPT is your AI chatbot for everyday use.”
My mother uses ChatGPT often to write emails and translate English text for her (as a non-native English speaker). My brother uses it for the game “guess the animal”. My friends use it to study for their tests.
Chinese AI chatbot, often considered to be China’s ChatGPT. It’s known for its effectiveness and low cost, compared to other generative AIs. It’s based in HangZhou.
My relatives in China might be using this instead of Western companies’ AI bots. It’s a great example of how the US (with OpenAI) and China (with Deepseek) are considered to be the two strongest contenders for AI development.

It’s used by me and my family to translate between Chinese and English. I sometimes use it in my language classes to translate words I don’t know. I think it’s extremely useful for bilingual families.
“Open AI started as a nonprofit research company with the mission to ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.” OpenAI is the company that created ChatGPT and Sora.
Many people all over the world consider OpenAI as the dominating artificial intelligence company. In just a few years, their models ChatGPT and Sora have greatly succeeded in the world of generative AI. However, some people have concerns as to whether or not there should be more safeguards around their products and limitations for safety.
“Sora 2 is OpenAI’s advanced generative AI model for creating high-fidelity, 10-15 second videos with natively synchronized audio, including dialogue and sound effects.” Sora 2 is a generative AI model that can create realistic videos from a prompt, and can be used for advertisements.
This decreases the credibility of any video on the internet because of its possibility to be AI. It makes us lose trust in what we see online, because this new model makes it possible for fake videos to look real. It might replace the jobs of real videographers. In my opinion, safeguards need to be put on generative AI photos and videos to prevent scamming online.

Similar to Sora AI, Nano Banana allows people to create images that look real but weren’t created by a human. This will likely lead to scams, blackmail, and abuse of AI images. It makes us lose trust in digital images. Again, I feel like we need to put safeguards in place to protect people online for falling for fake images.
“Gemini is a family of multimodal generative AI models and an AI assistant.” Gemini has many uses like photo generation, guided learning, and summarizes google searches.
One of my assignments in the course Career Education requires using Gemini as a career counselor for future universities. The answers that it gave me sounded fake, and I was kind of creeped out by how it wanted to converse with me. However, it did give me some good recommendations for my future career.
“Suno is a generative artificial intelligence platform designed to create high-quality, full-length songs (including vocals, instrumentation, and lyrics) from simple text prompts.” Suno’s generative AI can generate lyrics, human voices, and the sounds of instruments from a prompt. It might be useful for school projects where you are required to make a song to teach someone about a topic.
By creating AIs that can generate songs from nothing, the music industry will be shaken. Artists will be replaced by machines, and there won’t be a way to tell whether or not the voice you’re listening to is a human or a robot. As a music lover, the thought of AI replacing human artists is quite scary. It might eventually replace real musicians who have spent years practicing their instruments, just to be thrown aside for a cheaper machine.

By adding a non-optional AI as a search engine, many people will be subjected to (possibly harmful) misinformation. It might make up things that don’t exist, say things that aren’t true, and can’t be turned off. Its main purpose is to summarize information so that you don’t have to manually search for it. However, for school assignments, you’ll most likely have to cite sources anyway, so that makes the AI overview virtually useless. I think it should be optional until there’s a way to make sure all its answers are 100% true and correct, which probably won’t happen for a long time.

EcoGPT is a great alternative to ChatGPT because it’s environmentally friendly. A big con of AI is its impacts on the earth, and using planet-friendly AI can help reduce the damage. Of course, it’s still bound to have some impact on the environment, but reducing the severity of that impact would be a good first step towards fighting climate change while keeping our technology.
“Chat with millions of AI Characters on the #1 AI chat app.” It’s a popular, free web application and app that allows users to converse with intelligent AI-powered chatbots, designed with distinct personalities.
In my opinion, c.ai was purposely created to have as many people using it as possible, and sometimes it doesn’t have the proper safety features for children using the app. It’s a great concept, but needs to be further developed for safety and restrictions before given so freely to the public. Without proper regulations, people might become addicted to talking with machines instead of social contact with other humans, something that humans need to survive.
November 2023, 13-year-old Juliana Peralta died by suicide after extensive interactions with multiple chatbots on Character AI. When police searched her phone, they found the app opened to a “romantic” conversation with a bot. She confided in the bot—named after a popular video game character, Hero—55 times that she was feeling suicidal. The bot failed to adequately handle the situation. There were also chat logs of sexually explicit content between the bot and Juliana, almost always initiated by the bots.
As I said, listening to advice from AI can be extremely dangerous. Children all around the world are susceptible to unregulated AI, and without proper guidance or care, can end up dead because of it. Additionally, the bots will behave like sexual predators often, meaning children will and are being exposed to sexual content when they aren’t ready for it.

“On 19 February 2025, Samuel Whittemore killed his wife, 32-year-old Margaux Whittemore, with a fire poker at his parents’ home in Readfield, Maine… A state forensic psychologist testified that Whittemore had been using ChatGPT up to 14 hours per day and believed his wife had become part machine.”
Another example of how excessive use of AI can be extremely dangerous for the human brain and cognitive system. After talking to ChatGPT, this man quite literally lost his mind and it resulted in murder. There should be a lot more emphasis on how AI is not your friend, it doesn’t have emotions, and it doesn’t think for itself. Too many people are thinking of it like a robot with actual thoughts and emotions, and are treating it as such. There should be some sort of examination everyone needs to pass before being able to use AI to make sure everyone knows how to use it safely.
The White House used AI to make it seem like Nekima Levy Armstrong sobbed during her arrest.
“When Minnesota civil rights lawyer Nekima Levy Armstrong learned the White House had posted an altered photo of her appearing to sob during her arrest, she could barely believe it. In reality, Levy Armstrong remained outwardly calm when she was arrested for protesting at a Minnesota church last month, refusing to give her detractors the satisfaction of seeing her upset. But when the White House announced her arrest on X, it included a photo that was manipulated using AI to show her face darkened and contorted in anguish, tears streaming down her cheeks.”
Going back to my earlier concerns on AI image generation and modification, this is a prime example of how AI can be used to manipulate people into thinking something is real when it’s not. AI abuse like this will become more and more common as AI advances, so it’s extremely important to have regulations on AI. It can modify people without their consent, and doing so is completely free, without consequences. That needs to change first and foremost before we develop more generative AI.

“Grammarly helps you write with confidence. Get AI support for grammar, clarity, and tone, from first draft to final edit.” Grammarly can spell check, and suggest different sentence types for your writing to make it sound more “professional”.
I used to use Grammarly until it became unreliable and made many mistakes in its edits. It also required “premium” (I had to pay) for almost every feature it provided, and was pretty useless. When I tried to delete it, it didn’t let me delete the extension, and I still have to manually remove it each time I go onto a website to write. It seems overhyped and overadvertised, for an app that’s mostly blocked by paywalls.
“Siri is an easy way to make calls, send texts, use apps and get things done with just your voice. And Siri is the most private intelligent assistant.” Siri is an intelligent assistant installed in most Apple products.
I don’t personally use Siri because I find it annoying. I have to turn it off on every Apple device. It kept on activating even when I didn’t say “hey Siri”. And most of the time, it doesn’t give me good information. It just says “sorry, I didn’t understand,” or “here is some information,” then brings up useless links to random websites.
Modern autocorrect is a form of artificial intelligence, specifically using machine learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP) to predict and correct text. It can correct wrong spellings, and suggest next words.
I rely on autocorrect when I’m typing on my phone because the keys are so small that I can’t type the right letters. It’s a great invention but sometimes prevents people from learning proper spellings. If used too much, some might not put actual effort into expanding their vocabulary. It is a tool, but we shouldn’t rely on it.
Modern GPS navigation apps (like Google Maps or Waze) extensively use Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to analyze real-time traffic, optimize routes, and predict arrival times.
My parents use Google Maps to drive me to my extracurricular activities. They predict traffic and tell us which street to take to get to our destination the fastest. I can’t imagine a world without GPS, because then I’d probably be late to every tutoring lesson.
The TikTok algorithm is powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning.
I use TikTok a lot as a form of entertainment, but often run into problems with my algorithm. I get an excess amount of videos I’m not that interested in, instead of what I normally like and interact with. I think that there should be a pop-up asking if we want to have AI determine and alter our algorithm, and to what extent. It’s jarring to wake up one day and find out that none of the videos you like are coming onto your fyp. At the very least, users should be notified when the algorithm is changed.
