Gemini Certification

Description: The Google Gemini Certification is a test of Gemini’s many features and the steps one should take to ensure safe and legitimate AI use. Using real-life scenarios, the Certification teaches you what AI can and can’t be used for, as well as which AI tools are best suited for which area of generation

Discussion: AI is becoming increasingly prevalent in my academic life, and it is important to know how I can safely use it. With knowledge on which AI tools to use and when they should be used, I can most effectively use them to help me learn rather than exploiting them to do all my work.

Description: Productivity in workforces can be greatly reduced with poor embedding of AI in the work environment. A main problem exists when AI programs and human tasks are isolated, leading to errors in the product through miscommunication. Using AI to perform tasks that normally paid workers would do is much cheaper; however, companies need to maintain a healthy balance between AI work and human work to make sure AI is used for the better in the workplace.

Discussion: Although I am not at the age of employment yet, this seems like an issue that could affect my future work life. If people are actively being replaced by AI, it would be an issue that I would need to worry about as well and learning to deal with AI in the workplace will be important

Description: Physical AI is becoming more technologically advanced with newer computer chips and is increasingly capable of performing human tasks. This foreshadows a future of an AI ecosystem where the majority of labour and tasks are performed by physical AI robots.

Discussion: In the near future, it wouldn’t be surprising to see AI humanoids in traditional human jobs, intensifying the competition in the job market. Humans need to figure out a balance between when AI technology has become too advanced and have gotten out of our control.

Description: AI is a cost-saving tool that is capable of producing desirable results with a low budget. After sales have slowed down, Coca-Cola have implemented AI into their advertising and marketing, as it is able to produce similar results to hiring humans. This shows how AI has become part of what companies use to compete for market share.

Discussion: In the future, if most of our marketing is taken over by generative AI, it would lead to a drastic change in company workspaces and company strategies. For company owners in the future, they may compete using AI market campaigns and AI advertising channels

Description: An AI model has been developed to forecast and diagnose patients with certain diseases. As well, AI has been tested for patient management within hospitals to perform checks on the conditions of patients instead of humans. This eliminates many human errors from hospitals; however, it also adds potential errors within AI programs and restrictions with things AI can’t decide on.

Discussion: When someone’s health is in critical condition, it is crucial that they seek proper and correct aid. AI’s reliability is slowly improving, but still a concern. Hospitals need to ensure AI is a better tool than human diagnostics before fully employing it in healthcare systems.

Description: After running the same prompt of “generate me an image of a successful person in the field of economics”, Gemini gave me two separate images of people from diverse backgrounds. One is a woman of colour, and the other, a white man.

Discussion: This demonstrates that AI models are working to have less bias in their data and generation. When Gemini was first launched, it would generate more of the typical “white male” person, and as models improve and take in more data, they have exposed to much more of the population and adapt to this accordingly

Description: I asked Gemini to predict the Stanley Cup playoffs for the NHL. It took current NHL stats and standings to make predictions on the upcoming NHL playoffs.

Discussion: This shows the AI’s ability to make hypotheses based on information, showing its research capabilities and reasoning. There is some outdated information, such as the Utah Mammoth logo still being the old logo before they changed it this year.

Description: I asked Base44, an AI-powered application coder, to make a game resembling Geometry Dash. The result was a platformer, a minimalistic 2D game. When I played the game, it was impossible, and I had to manually balance some of the speeds and hitboxes of the game.

Discussion: This shows that although AI code is in its primary stages, it’s already capable of creating entire applications from simple commands. In the near future, it is entirely possible that software developers are replaced by advanced AI capable of producing high-quality games through simple commands.

Description: Pax Historia is a game where you choose a country in a conflict and submit actions for that country. AI in the game then looks at your actions and decides how the game responds, creating this warfare stimulator game powered entirely by AI.

Discussion: This is just the beginning of creating games surrounding AI that responds to the player’s actions. With AI, games can feel more “customizable” and can grow more popular in the future.

Description: When you type something into the Google search engine, before any links come up, Gemini will provide you with an overview of sources it has gathered, turning it into a paragraph with some bullet points.

Discussion: This both makes research more convenient, yet more tiresome. While quick searches will save time from having to scroll through sources, AI will pool all sources it finds, skipping over the potential problems of reliability and recency. It is important to know when an AI overview is okay to use and when opening real sources could be more beneficial.

Description: In many websites and games, AI has taken part in determining a user’s age through their camera. Using face sensors and pattern recognition, AI can accurately estimate the age of a person through their camera.

Discussion: On games such as Roblox and Fortnite, this system has been implemented due to concerns over age faking, often to do with mature content or pedophilia. Although this overlooks the genetic diversity of people, which may cause issues within the system, it is a solid start to keeping the internet safer, and will only improve with more data collection and enhanced pattern recognition.

Description: Gemini Gems are specialized chats for performing certain tasks that the user describes. Gems can be personalized to help with things in a certain way, making it more efficient at performing tasks.

Discussion: Google Gemini has developed and improved exponentially, turning from what was just an alternative to ChatGPT to a superior platform with many more functions and perks. Gems show how AI chats can be programmed by users, becoming a huge update for quality of life and customization.

Description: This feature allows an AI to “read” and remember massive amounts of data at once—such as hour-long videos, thousands of lines of code, or several thick novels—in a single prompt.

Discussion: It eliminates the need to summarize or break up big files. By holding everything in its “active memory,” the AI can find needles in haystacks and understand complex relationships across huge projects with perfect recall.

Description: Agentic AI systems that simulate cyberattacks on a company’s own network to find vulnerabilities and automatically isolate suspicious traffic before a breach occurs.

Discussion: Unlike traditional firewalls, these agents reason through anomalies. In 2026, they have reduced the average time to contain a breach from weeks to minutes, turning security into an active, self-healing shield.

Description: In science class, students use AI connected to sensors and cameras. While you perform a chemistry experiment, the AI tracks the data in real-time, creates instant graphs, and flags if your reaction is happening too fast or too slow.

Discussion: This innovation lets students focus on the science instead of just the data entry. It’s like having a professional lab assistant that handles the tedious measuring so you can spend your time figuring out what the results actually mean for your project.

Description: AI that can take a video of someone speaking one language and instantly change their voice—and even their lip movements—to speak another language perfectly, keeping the original person’s tone and emotion.

Discussion: For a ninth-grader, this means you can watch a history documentary from a creator in Japan or a science vlog from Germany as if they were speaking English. It breaks down the language barrier, making the entire world’s knowledge accessible to anyone, anywhere.

Description: As AI gets better at making fake photos and videos, Detection AI has been built to spot the tiny digital patterns that humans can’t see, flagging if a video of a celebrity or politician is actually a fake.

Discussion: For students researching current events, these detectors help confirm if a source is real or AI. It’s a tool using AI to find AI that helps keep the internet a more honest place for everyone.

Description: When you start typing a text message or a Google search, the AI predicts the rest of your sentence based on how billions of other people talk and your own past habits.

Discussion: This is AI built into our lives that we barely notice, but it saves us time every day. It’s a perfect example of how AI is designed to make technology feel like a natural extension of our own thoughts.

Description: In modern games, NPCs are now powered by Large Language Models. Instead of having a pre-written script, they can listen to what you say through your mic and respond naturally, changing their behaviour based on your personality.

Discussion: This makes gaming feel like a living world. You can have a full conversation with a shopkeeper or a quest-giver that is completely unique to you. It shifts gaming from following a set path to having a real social experience within a digital universe.
