Short Title – Gemini Calculus Practice
Description – This is an image of me using the Google Gemini Canvas feature to create an interactive quiz. I had gotten a calculus question wrong on my homework, so I asked Gemini to generate a similar problem and present it in Canvas so I could practice solving it again. The AI created a new question with a similar structure and allowed me to test my understanding of the concept.
Discussion – This relates to my life because I often use AI as a study tool rather than just for answers. When I get something wrong in math, the most helpful thing is doing more practice problems, but sometimes it’s hard to find questions that are similar to the one I struggled with. Gemini can generate new practice problems instantly, which helps me reinforce the concept and learn from my mistakes. However, I think it’s important to use AI responsibly and not rely on it to simply give solutions. For me, the value is in using it as a practice generator and learning aid.
Short Title – Formatting magazine article
Description – I wrote an article about myopia for my magazine but had no idea how to format it properly so that it would actually look nice when it was published. So, I asked Claude to help me format my writing in a professional manner and it came up with this.
Discussion – This relates to my life because I work on several writing projects, including articles for my STEM magazine. Writing the content is one challenge, but presenting it professionally is another. AI tools like Claude can help improve formatting and organization so that ideas are easier for readers to follow. I still write all of the ideas and arguments myself, but AI helps refine the presentation. I think this is one of the most ethical and useful ways to use AI: assisting with editing and structure rather than replacing the author’s original thinking.
Short Title – Using ChatGPT to predict snow weather for skiing
Description – This image shows me asking ChatGPT about snow conditions on Grouse Mountain. I provided information such as recent snowfall, temperatures, and snow depth (in a previous prompt), and asked whether the snow would still be good for skiing a few days later. ChatGPT helped interpret the weather data and estimate the likely snow conditions.
Discussion – This relates to my life because I enjoy snowboarding, but the quality of the trip depends heavily on weather conditions and snowfall. Sometimes it can be confusing to interpret all the different weather statistics on ski reports. AI tools can help explain this information and give a rough prediction of what conditions might be like. However, AI predictions are not always perfectly accurate, so it’s still important to check official weather forecasts and ski reports. In this case, AI acts more like an assistant that helps interpret data rather than replacing real sources.
Short Title – Gemini Certificate
Description – The certification demonstrates that I completed training on how to use Google’s AI tools and understand the basics of generative AI, including responsible and ethical usage.
Discussion – Learning how to use AI responsibly is an important skill. Through this certification, I learned about how generative AI works and how it can be used to support learning, creativity, and productivity. I think understanding AI is important so that students can use it ethically to enhance their work rather than misuse it.
Short Title – Claude Code for HTML
Description – This image shows me using Claude to help generate HTML code to fix the footer for the website of my STEM magazine. I asked the AI to help me with this problem because even after trying to fix it for a few hours, nothing worked and I had no idea how to fix it.
Discussion – I am building a website for my magazine but I am still learning web development. AI tools can help explain code and generate examples that I can study and modify. Instead of copying the code blindly, I try to understand what each part does so I can learn programming concepts. In this way, AI works like a coding tutor that helps me learn new skills faster. I think this is one of the most positive uses of AI because it helps people learn technical skills rather than replacing the learning process.
Short Title – Using AI to Summarize Articles
Description – This image shows me using an AI tool to summarize a long article on the moral status of animals into a shorter version. The AI identifies the main points and condenses the information into a few key ideas. Without ChatGPT, it would’ve taken me a crazy amount of time to go through the entire article because the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy is very (and sometimes, unnecessarily) thorough.
Discussion – This relates to my life because I often need to read long academic articles for school projects, debate preparation, or research. Sometimes these texts are very dense and take a long time to get through. AI tools can help by summarizing the main ideas first, which allows me to understand the key arguments before diving deeper into the details. However, I think it’s important not to rely only on the summary. AI summaries can miss nuances or misinterpret arguments, so I still read important sections of the original article. In my experience, AI works best as a tool that helps organize information and save time rather than replacing the learning process.
Short Title – Using AI to generate a study method for my AP courses
Description – This year, I’m taking several challenging AP courses and they’re often hard to remember after I go through several units, especially when I’m using the workbook.
Discussion – This relates to my life because I take several challenging classes and sometimes struggle to remember older material when new topics are introduced. AI can help organize information and suggest learning strategies that I might not have considered before. In this case, the AI acted more like a productivity coach, helping me plan a better way to review and retain information. However, the strategy still depends on whether I actually follow the plan and do the work. AI can give advice, but it cannot replace the effort required to study and understand the material.
Short Title – Using AI to draw chemical particles and learn how to visualize an experiment
Description – This year, I’m taking chemistry in science 10 honors and it’s often hard to visualize particles especially within specific problems.
Discussion – This relates to my life because visualizing what happens at the particle level in chemistry can sometimes be difficult. We often talk about atoms and molecules reacting, but we cannot actually see them. AI can help generate diagrams or explanations that make these invisible processes easier to understand. In my case, it helped me better understand how particles move and interact during reactions. However, these diagrams are still models rather than exact representations, so it’s important to compare them with what we learn in class and in textbooks.
Short Title – AI Detecting Cancer Earlier
Description – This image shows a news article about artificial intelligence being used to analyze medical images such as X-rays and MRIs. Researchers have developed AI systems that can identify patterns in medical scans and detect early signs of diseases such as cancer. These systems analyze large datasets of medical images and learn to recognize abnormalities that might indicate illness. Doctors can then use this information to assist with diagnosis and treatment decisions.
Discussion – AI in healthcare has the potential to significantly improve early detection of diseases. Earlier diagnoses can lead to better treatment outcomes and potentially save lives. However, AI should not replace doctors because medical decisions require human judgment and experience. Instead, AI can serve as a tool that helps doctors analyze complex data more efficiently. This example shows how AI can support professionals rather than replace them.
Short Title – Deepfakes and AI Misinformation
Description – Deepfake technology uses artificial intelligence to generate highly realistic videos or audio recordings of people saying or doing things they never actually did. These systems are trained on large datasets of images and voices to recreate a person’s appearance and speech patterns. As a result, the generated content can appear very convincing.
Discussion – While deepfake technology can be used for entertainment or creative purposes, it also raises serious concerns about misinformation. False videos could potentially be used to manipulate public opinion or spread misleading information online. This demonstrates that AI technologies can have both positive and negative impacts depending on how they are used. Because of this, many experts believe regulations and ethical guidelines are necessary to manage these risks.
Short Title – AI in Self-Driving Cars
Description – Self-driving cars rely heavily on artificial intelligence to interpret data from sensors, cameras, and radar systems. These AI systems analyze the environment around the vehicle and make decisions about steering, braking, and navigation. The goal is to allow vehicles to operate safely without human control.
Discussion – Autonomous vehicles could potentially reduce accidents caused by human error. However, there are still many challenges related to safety, reliability, and accountability. If an accident occurs, it can be difficult to determine who is responsible. This example shows how AI technologies can raise complex ethical and legal questions.
Short Title – AI Art and Copyright Debate
Description – AI image generators can create artwork by analyzing millions of images from the internet and learning patterns from them. These systems can generate new images based on prompts provided by users. However, many artists have raised concerns that their work is being used to train AI models without permission.
Discussion – This issue highlights the tension between technological innovation and intellectual property rights. While AI art tools can expand creativity and accessibility, they may also impact artists whose work was used to train these models. As AI technology continues to develop, society will need to find ways to balance innovation with fairness and respect for creators.
Short Title – Podcast Logo Generator
Description – While creating the logo for my STEM podcast, I wasn’t sure of where to start and I didn’t want to waste all my time looking for a template on canva. So, in previous prompts in this chat, I gave ChatGPT all the details on what my podcast is and what it talks about, then, I gave it a couple of examples that I liked and it generated me an image.
Discussion – As someone who doesn’t always have a lot of time to do random things like this, I would much rather spend the time that I have on things like designing curriculum for tutoring kids or writing emails and researching organizations we can work with as a nonprofit than on creating a logo.
Short Title – ChatGPT Debate Drills
Description – I used ChatGPT to help me drill some debates as if it was my debate coach or partner on the subjects that I was having trouble with.
Discussion – When I practice debating, I don’t always have class that day or my partner might not be online when I have time. In those scenarios, it’s very beneficial for me to have access to AI, which is broadly able to construct arguments and knows a lot about international relations and geopolitics and is thus able to challenge me at a level that only my coach can.
Short Title – Drama Drills
Description – I used ChatGPT to help me with figuring out how to do a british accent on a line I had for drama.
Discussion – I think that ChatGPT is very useful for tasks like this where I have no idea how to do something and my coaches aren’t there to help me with it at that very moment. It is able to draw upon its grand reserves of knowledge to conjure an answer like this which I would not have been able to find from a simple Google search.
Short Title – AP Score Calculuation
Description – I used ChatGPT to help me figure out the percentage of questions I needed to get right in order to get a 5 and how to improve.
Discussion – This shows how AI tools can support my learning and improve my performance over time. After scoring 27/50 on an earlier AP Physics 1 practice exam, I used AI to review concepts, clarify mistakes, and explain difficult questions step by step. By identifying patterns in the types of errors I was making and helping me understand the underlying physics principles, AI acted as a personalized study assistant. When I took the practice exam again, my score improved to 34/50, showing measurable progress.
Short Title – Present Picking
Description – I used ChatGPT to help me find a list of presents I can get my friend who loves F1.
Discussion – This shows how AI tools can help narrow down choices and personalize answers/search results in a way that normal search engines cannot. This is very helpful in terms of being able to find an answer efficiently and effortlessly.
Short Title – Waves Visualization
Description – I used ChatGPT to help me visualize a question on waves I was confused about for physics.
Discussion – Here, ChatGPT supported my learning by giving me an interactive way to visualize an abstract concept and deepen my understanding. I was able to more clearly understand the question I was trying to solve instead of just seeing the answer and following the steps.
Short Title – Outfit Combos
Description – I used ChatGPT to help me figure out what to wear to a debate competition.
Discussion – When I was choosing my outfit for my debate competition one weekend, I wasn’t quite sure how all my clothes would look once I put them together and I didn’t have enough time to try all the combos from my closet. So, I asked ChatGPT for advice and prompted it with several different options and it gave me a thorough analysis on each outfit, helping me save lots of time and gain more confidence as to what I was wearing.
Short Title – Picking a Movie
Description – In this image, ChatGPT helped me find a movie to watch with my friends.
Discussion – This shows how AI tools can be very specific when answering a question and is able to give multiple answers to a prompt. By giving me a list of different movie options, it lessens the chance that I will dislike every single movie on this list. This relates to my life because I am able to cure my indecisiveness at least partially because I now have a (mostly) impartial opinion to help me decide.
