Story 1 – Must Have Tech to Kick-off Summer
Summary
In the YouTube video “Must-Have Tech to Kick Off Summer”, we are informed on several must-have tech gadgets and apps for summer entertainment. Winston, a tech influencer, starts the video off by telling the audience about the Pluto TV app, which offers free access to multiple original streaming channels; which is ideal for keeping people entertained during long travels, ex. plane rides, road trips, etc. After this, he introduces Maple, which is a subscription-based healthcare app that allows for virtual meetings with licensed healthcare professionals over text or video calling. This is good for when you are away from home and may need medical advice on the go. He next informs us about the Google Pixel 8 Pro, which includes many great elements that are perfect for photographing memories of the summer. He also talks about the Apple Watch Series 9 and Sonos RS wireless speaker for their helpful outdoor abilities, like being able to send an emergency SOS and access to many different playlists and radio stations. Finally, he mentions the JBL Flip 5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker, Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Power Bank, and Instant Pot Duo Nova 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker as a few must-have essentials for when you’re holding outdoor gatherings, attending long trips, and want to have overall summer enjoyment.
Personal Opinion
In my personal opinion, I find this video very educational and useful. Because I’m staying in Vancouver during the summer, it’s important for me to find things that will keep things interesting. I know that I will definitely have to check out the Pluto TV app, as I think it would be useful for me when I want to start a new show during the summer. While I don’t plan on using the Maple subscription, I do think that it would be very helpful for a lot of people when they are travelling away from home. All of these gadgets would make summer a lot more enjoyable for me, like the Google Pixel 8 Pro and the Sonos RS wireless speaker, because it would give me the ability to capture all the memories that I create and help me create a more fun environment.
Story 2 – The Rise of AI: Predicting the Top Tech Trends of 2024
Summary
In the YouTube video “The Rise of AI: Predicting the Top Tech Trends of 2024,” Duncan Stewart mentions the rapid-growing use of ChatGPT and other AI innovations. He dives into the fast rise of AI technology, and predicts its use across multiple industries in the 2024. He highlights the expansion of streaming options in the US entertainment industry, and expresses longing for ‘the early day’ cable TV. Stewart also predicts a rise in safety precautions through our cellphones, like the invention of passkeys, which allows you to access your phone through face ID or fingerprints. These can also unlock your car, your apartment building, and in the future, things like drivers licenses and passports through your phone. Lastly, he predicts that AI, which gained major ‘fame’ through ChatGPT in 2023, is anticipated to continue its large impact across the world in 2024.
Personal Opinion
In my opinion, the YouTube video “The Rise of Ai: Predicting the Top Tech Trends of 2024” is intriguing but very unsettling. Stewart’s thoughts on the rise of passkeys is quite concerning to me. The idea of using facial ID or fingerprints to unlock phones is not knew to me, but what surprised me was that you are able to unlock your cars, apartment buildings, and potentially digital versions of driver’s licenses and passports includes very risky privacy and security breaches. If information of such sensitive nature were to be leaked or stolen by others, it could possibly be exploited. I think that our world’s dependency on technology is going overboard, and if these systems were hacked or failed, everyone using those systems would be at risk of their personal sensitive information being used for things like impersonation, robbery, a various amount of crimes, etc.

Technology News Stories
1 – How AI is changing gaming tech in 2025
Summary: This video shows how artificial intelligence is changing the way video games are made and played. AI can now create realistic characters, environments, and game worlds much faster than before. It also makes non-player characters (NPCs) smarter by reacting to how each player plays. Developers are using AI to test games and find problems more quickly, which helps them create better games faster. The video also talks about some concerns, like how player data is used, possible bias in AI, and making sure humans still have creative control.
Personal Opinion: I think using AI in games is really cool and could make games more fun and personal. It’s exciting that games can now change based on how someone plays, but I also think it’s important to be careful. If we rely too much on AI, we might lose the creative/human side of games. AI should be a tool that helps improve games, not something that takes over the game itself.
2 – New Things on the Way from Apple
Summary: This video shows a walkthrough of the latest software and feature updates for Apple. It covers major updates across iPhones, MacBooks, iPads, Watches, TVs and more—highlighting the new appearance designs, strengthened AI integrations such as Visual Intelligence and Live Translation, enhanced features, such as hands-free calling, Intelligent Shortcuts, more capable Siri, and a revamped Apple Games hub.
Personal Opinion: I think these updates are super beneficial for users—especially the new enhancement features and AI-powered tools that streamline everyday tasks. The updated look and smarter system-wide features feel like a significant leap forward in making Apple’s devices more visually appealing and helpful for users.
3 – AI company’s CEO issues warning about mass unemployment
Summary: In this video, Anthropic CEO, Dario Amodei, sounded the alarm on the rapid rise of AI, warning it could trigger mass unemployment—potentially eliminating 10–20% of jobs, with entry‑level white‑collar positions hit hardest. He stresses that this AI boom is “bigger, broader, and moving faster” than any prior technology wave and urges society to prepare by acknowledging the risk and adapting tools like workforce retraining and algorithmic regulation.
Personal Opinion: I fully agree with this statement—AI’s evolution poses a dangerous threat to job stability. As more routine and complex tasks become automated, many industries will face structural shifts. This could lead to widescale unemployment, and it is hard to stop this unless we take action now. By confronting the future head‑on can we hope to protect workers and ensure AI enhances lives, rather than taking away 10-20% of jobs.
