News Story 1 – Top 10 Anticipated Tech Innovations of 2024

Summary

This youtube video created by the channel WatchMojo.com, talks and lists the top ten most anticipated tech products emerging this year. The first product listed at number 10 is OLED iPads. Apple plans to input OLED screens into their new iPads to possess better visuals when taking dark-mode photos. The OLED program overall achieves better visuals on photo-taking, especially in dark-mode. The next product, coming in at number nine, is LG’s Zero Labor Robot. The robot is designed to help manage small jobs around the house, such as air quality detection, if any windows or lights are left on or open, and it can connect to smart appliances. Additionally, it has built-in AI, where it can read your facial expressions and play suitable music for the scenario. Number eight is Autonomous Construction Vehicles. These machines are primarily built by the company HD Hyundai with the vehicles operating completely by themselves, so that workers won’t have to go near dangerous construction sites. The seventh product listed is Ventura. Ventura, created by Meta, is the newest VR headset which is very accessible with an enticing price (around $200). Number six listed in the video is the Gyroglove. This product is aimed at people who suffer with hand tremors, such as Parkinson’s disease. The glove uses technological engineering to stabilize sudden hand movements (hand tremors). Although the glove has reportedly been working wonders, it comes at a significantly large cost (around $6000). The fifth product stated in the video is the Nintendo Switch 2. Since the Nintendo Switch was such a massive success, Nintendo hopes to capitalize on their triumph and create a second console that is just as big as the first. The fourth item is MBUX Virtual Assistance. This product is essentially a built in form of AI in the vehicles in the popular car brand Mercedes. The company’s hope is to create a more intuitive relationship between the driver and the car. Coming in at number three, Transparent TVs. These TVs unveil the normal black background on all TVs and leave certain widgets floating in mid-air. When one wants to watch a movie, the black background folds back up, for a more regular look. The second product on the list are Rollable Phones. Motorola is currently the front-running brand for this innovation, with the phones uniquely shrinking and expanding. Number one on the list is the Apple Vision Pro. This product uses outstanding technology to create a blended viewpoint of the real world, and the virtual. It has many unique features and has one-of-a-kind technology.

Personal Opinion

In my personal opinion, I think about half of these innovative products coming out this year will be quite useful and a success, and the other half will be the opposite. I feel that the OLED iPads, LG’s Zero Labor Robot, Autonomous Construction Vehicles, and the MBUX Virtual Assistant are unnecessary and a waste of one’s money. Most of these products involve doing some sort of activity (construction working, cleaning around the house, and driving a car). However, when these new inventions are more popularized, a large population of people will lose their jobs. With the OLED iPads, I think it is a useless design and product, as it is only improving one part of the device (photo taking). The products I think will be useful and successful is the Gyroglove, the Ventura VR headset, the Nintendo Switch 2, Transparent TVs, Rollable Phones, and the Apple Vision Pro. These products are either useful for certain complications (Gyroglove), or are solely for aesthetic, fun, and leisure time. I believe that the Nintendo Switch 2, Ventura, Apple Vision Pro, Rollable Phones, and Transparent TVs will be huge successes as they are new, never before seen products that will fascinate consumers. I also believe that the Gyroglove will be a very successful product as there is a significantly large population of elderly people in the world, that are susceptible to Parkinson’s disease that leads to hand tremors.

News Story 2 – 10 Best New Things for Gamers at CES Vegas 2024

Summary

This video made by the channel gameranx, talks about what the top 10 most anticipated, new products for gamers in 2024 are. The first product they talk about (number 10) is Samsung’s new 3D Gaming Monitor. This one-of-a-kind gaming monitor has eye-tracking features, so you will not have to wear glasses to see the same 3D effect. The system uses AI, and eye-tracking tools to enhance your gameplay to the 3D world. Number 9 of the list is the unique light company Govee. The company is planning to release the Govee Light Sync Box 2, which is a light system that uses AI to coordinate what colours are going on on screen, and what colours the lights will show. The Sync Box 2 will essentially be a more updated and faster-running version of the first Sync Box by Govee. Moving on to number 8, the new computer mouse by Targus. This product is special in the sense as the mouse can convert from right-hand player use, to left-hand player use. It is also created with eco-sustainable materials, that will limit more eco-waste in entering our environment. Number 7 on the list is the RYZEN 7 8700G processing chip created AMD. This desktop processor is said to have the fastest built-in graphics on the market. Coming in at number 6, NVIDIA released a series of ‘super’ chips, which enhance the gaming practice and give players an overall, better experience with these cards. Number 5 is also created by NVIDIA, but it is an app: the RTX Remix App. This app will be extremely useful to technologically inclined users such as modders, as it is made to help enhance older games. Moving on to number 4 is HP’s gaming brand named Omen. The brand recently just announced the HP Omen Transcend 14 gaming laptop. This laptop will be world’s lightest, and coolest 14-inch gaming laptop with outstanding screen modifications and guaranteed fast gameplay. Number 3 listed in the video is the NUC created by ASUS. These NUC’s will be an all-in-one, compact, complete system for your gaming PC. The product listed at number 2 is MSI’s Claw. This handheld gaming peripheral has a 53-watt gaming hour battery, which is the biggest in class for their competitors. Lastly, number 1 is Razer’s Project Esther, which is a gaming cushion being engineered to possess HD Haptics that you can feel in your butt and back. The cushion goes onto your chair with ease and sends more precise signals of what is happening in your game, goes to your chair.

Personal Opinion

I personally think that these products will be very useful to gamers aruond the world, as each of them pose a unique feature that is unlike the last. Weather it’s just enhancing your gameplay to run faster, or completely new features that have never been seen before. I personally love gaming and I find some of these would be helpful tools, or just for aesthetics. Nonetheless, most of these seem insightful and enticing. The Govee Light sync box sounds like it would beautifully enhance aesthetic of when I’m gaming. Additionally, the 3D monitor sounds appealing as it is a never before seen type of technology mixed with widespread gaming.

Passion Projects

Project 1 – Vancouver Aquarium Cinematic Video

For my first Passion Project, I chose my cinematic video that features the Vancouver Aquarium. I photographed, and filmed all the videos on my personal camera. Then, I put them all together in Premiere Pro with the song Doomsday by MF DOOM playing in the background. Finally, I colour coded all the short videos through a separate computer program. Unfortunately, if was unable to submit the full minute-long video on this portfolio, as the file size only goes up to 100 MB. I will submit the full video with my final portfolio submission on Google Classroom.

Project 2 – Maui, HI Cinematic Video

In my second Passion Project for my final portfolio, I decided to do another cinematic video, however, with content I filmed from my trip to Maui, HI over winter break. With the same process, I filmed the videos, then put everything into Premiere Pro and added the background song Weird Fishes/Arpeggi by Radiohead. Lastly, I colour-graded all the videos and saved the final product. Again, I was unable to submit the entire video on this portfolio, so I will submit the full, finalized video on Google Classroom.

Tech Commentary #1

ChatGPT-4o’s New Voice Feature

OpenAI made a breakthrough in November 2022, with the releasing GPT-3.5. It was a major hit, and ever since then, they’ve been making news headlines after news headlines.

ChatGPT basically revolutionized AI, and was made a huge success. It has been the backbone to new search engines, personalized results on social media feeds, etc.

With the very recent release of GPT-4o, a lot of new things have came to the chatbot. For example, you can now have a AI voice speak to answer your questions, which sounds very human like. If you’re lonely, you can literally make it your friend.

You may be asking, “Won’t the time for a whole new audio and response take a lot longer?” The answer to that is: No. It has a response time as little as 232 miliseconds which is crazy to think about.

It is completely free and all you need is an account. It has a limit of 10 messages every 4 hours, so make good use of them!

Tech Commentary #2

Microsoft’s upcoming “Recall” Feature changed to Opt-In only

Microsoft just announced a new feature named “recall.” It faced a LOT of backlash.

Recall is a feature specific to Windows users. Basically it takes a screenshot of whatever is on your screen every 3 seconds and adds it to a data-base.

Seems useful, right? You can go back and find tabs you accidentally closed, screenshots you need, proof of what you buy, and other things.

But then you realize that anybody could hack your computer, and get dirt onto you, such as: Passwords, Cards, Bank, Accounts, etc.

For a while, Microsoft was thinking on making it mandatory, but due to the amount of backlash they made it Opt-in so it is no longer required.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll find a good use out of this, but having all your information displayed on your computer is not a good idea. Be careful when having this feature enabled.

Story 1 – Must Have Tech to Kick-off Summer

Summary

In the YouTube video “Must-Have Tech to Kick Off Summer”, we are informed on several must-have tech gadgets and apps for summer entertainment. Winston, a tech influencer, starts the video off by telling the audience about the Pluto TV app, which offers free access to multiple original streaming channels; which is ideal for keeping people entertained during long travels, ex. plane rides, road trips, etc. After this, he introduces Maple, which is a subscription-based healthcare app that allows for virtual meetings with licensed healthcare professionals over text or video calling. This is good for when you are away from home and may need medical advice on the go. He next informs us about the Google Pixel 8 Pro, which includes many great elements that are perfect for photographing memories of the summer. He also talks about the Apple Watch Series 9 and Sonos RS wireless speaker for their helpful outdoor abilities, like being able to send an emergency SOS and access to many different playlists and radio stations. Finally, he mentions the JBL Flip 5 Portable Bluetooth Speaker, Anker PowerCore 10000 PD Power Bank, and Instant Pot Duo Nova 7-in-1 Electric Pressure Cooker as a few must-have essentials for when you’re holding outdoor gatherings, attending long trips, and want to have overall summer enjoyment.

Personal Opinion

In my personal opinion, I find this video very educational and useful. Because I’m staying in Vancouver during the summer, it’s important for me to find things that will keep things interesting. I know that I will definitely have to check out the Pluto TV app, as I think it would be useful for me when I want to start a new show during the summer. While I don’t plan on using the Maple subscription, I do think that it would be very helpful for a lot of people when they are travelling away from home. All of these gadgets would make summer a lot more enjoyable for me, like the Google Pixel 8 Pro and the Sonos RS wireless speaker, because it would give me the ability to capture all the memories that I create and help me create a more fun environment.

Story 2 – The Rise of AI: Predicting the Top Tech Trends of 2024

Summary

In the YouTube video “The Rise of AI: Predicting the Top Tech Trends of 2024,” Duncan Stewart mentions the rapid-growing use of ChatGPT and other AI innovations. He dives into the fast rise of AI technology, and predicts its use across multiple industries in the 2024. He highlights the expansion of streaming options in the US entertainment industry, and expresses longing for ‘the early day’ cable TV. Stewart also predicts a rise in safety precautions through our cellphones, like the invention of passkeys, which allows you to access your phone through face ID or fingerprints. These can also unlock your car, your apartment building, and in the future, things like drivers licenses and passports through your phone. Lastly, he predicts that AI, which gained major ‘fame’ through ChatGPT in 2023, is anticipated to continue its large impact across the world in 2024.

Personal Opinion

In my opinion, the YouTube video “The Rise of Ai: Predicting the Top Tech Trends of 2024” is intriguing but very unsettling. Stewart’s thoughts on the rise of passkeys is quite concerning to me. The idea of using facial ID or fingerprints to unlock phones is not knew to me, but what surprised me was that you are able to unlock your cars, apartment buildings, and potentially digital versions of driver’s licenses and passports includes very risky privacy and security breaches. If information of such sensitive nature were to be leaked or stolen by others, it could possibly be exploited. I think that our world’s dependency on technology is going overboard, and if these systems were hacked or failed, everyone using those systems would be at risk of their personal sensitive information being used for things like impersonation, robbery, a various amount of crimes, etc.

Project #1 pug licking ice cream

This is one of my prized projects that I created in Adobe Photoshop. It displays a pug licking strawberry ice cream with his cartoon-like tongue. The background of this project is a nice colourful sky. It shows how the pug can rest anywhere because it’s all-powerful, whether it’s in the sky, a house, etc. Overall this is a masterpiece that I have created.

Project #2 poppy war image

This image symbolizes the pain and stress the soldiers had to go through during the war. The poppies on the side show how we are grateful that they have done that. I created the poppy by adding a bunch of shaping and arranging them to make one shape like the black inside and the red outside.

Tech News:

  1. Self Driving Cars

https://carbuzz.com/features/self-driving-cars

Self-driving cars use cameras and sensors to drive without input from a person in the car. They are able to use their programming to drive safely, doing everything a driver would do. They are able to follow all the road rules and transport passengers safely to their destinations. But, this is not a widespread reality yet. Although self-driving cars may be a common sight in the future, there are still a few kinks that need to be worked out before self-driving cars can be safe enough for common use.

I think that eventually self-driving cars will be a common sight, but there are some large downsides that will prevent them from ever fully replacing human-driven cars. First of all, there would be many costs associated with ingraining self-driving cars into our society. There will be high costs associated with all aspects of self-driving cars, from maintenance and development to production. Next, if all cars are replaced with self-driving ones, many jobs would be lost, from taxi drivers and food deliveries to semi truck drivers, there are tons of people that have a job that relies on driving. Also, if any car is fully self-driving, there is a risk of the technology breaking, or not working. Without a failsafe, such as a driver being able to take over controls, any technology malfunction could be disastrous. Finally, not everyone would want to give up being able to drive. Driving is something so ingrained within our society that it would be near impossible to make everyone stop driving, so I think it is unlikely that all cars will be self-driving in our lifetime.

However, there are a few major advantages that self-driving cars could have. First of all, they could save time and avoid traffic by following the optimal distance behind the car in front of them and finding the optimal route to a destination. They could also be much safer than manually driven cars, as the programming would make them always follow the road rules and always make the right decision. This added safety would also improve congestion, as less crashes means less traffic, as there would be no interruptions or reroutes due to an accident.

In conclusion, I think that self-driving cars are a great concept, but they are not our sole future. There are many reasons to use our time and energy to pursue this new technology, but I think it will never take over fully from manual cars. I think there are too many physical and psychological obstacles for self-driving cars to ever achieve what we dream of, but through them we can improve our technology and safety, and achieve new things.

2. Supersonic Jets

The Boom Overture

https://www.cnn.com/travel/boom-supersonic-xb1-demonstrator-first-flight/index.html

Just 2 months ago, a test aircraft for a supersonic airplane in development completed its first flight. This is a big success, as it is the first step toward supersonic air travel, something that has not happened since the Concorde took its last flight in 2003. Although the test aircraft is ⅓ the size of what the real aircraft will be, and only went 270 mph, it passed all expectations that the company set. According to the company’s CEO, although flying faster will use more energy, by using sustainable aviation fuel, which the jet should be able to run on, the more energy needed to power the aircraft should not cause more impact on the environment. Also, the CEO raises the point that because the aircraft will fly faster than conventional jets, it will be able to do more flights and cover more distance in less time. This will allow airlines to have less airplanes, as they can potentially use the same one for multiple routes.

I think that supersonic flight is a great idea. It is still largely unknown by many people, but has the potential to make a great impact. Although supersonic travel was attempted before with the Concorde, it was just too big, loud, and expensive to be commercially viable. Through new technology and development, it is possible we can make the Boom Overture a success and change air travel as we know it. Also, through supersonic flight we can fix many problems that air travel is plagued with. First of all, by flying faster, we can travel distances faster, allowing people to be more likely to travel, due to it taking less time. Through faster air travel, we can also travel farther, cutting down the time it takes to go places even more. Although there are some advantages, which I have outlined above, there are also some drawbacks. First of all, all aircraft that go over the speed of sound (approximately 750mph), create a sonic boom. This sonic boom is very loud, and if supersonic travel becomes common, we have to find a way to decrease the boom, as the added noise could have detrimental effects, especially in places where there are a lot of people. As most airports are close to major cities, supersonic jets taking off and landing will cause unnecessary noise pollution. Another drawback is the cost. It will cost billions of dollars to test and build supersonic jets, and they will certainly cost significantly more than current airliners. These costs could cause airlines to raise prices for tickets on supersonic jets, causing supersonic travel to be less accessible. This reason played a large part in the downfall of the concorde. Finally, supersonic jets could only be used over oceans, due to laws in place that do not allow supersonic air travel over land, due to the reasons I highlighted above.

In conclusion, although there are still many obstacles we will have to overcome before we make supersonic air travel commercially successful and viable, we are already well on our way to making something that has only been dreamed of a success.

Tech News Story One: How Whale Safe Protects our Finned Friends

On May 8th, 2024, a New York harbour was greeted with a sad sight: the body of a sei whale stuck to the front of the cruise ship MSC Meraviglia.

While shocking and grisly, this sight isn’t uncommon. Each year, around 20,000 whales die after being hit by boats.

Sometimes, the deaths aren’t from a lack of effort on the company’s part. In a quote from CBC, an ambassador for MSC Cruises says “we are deeply saddened by any loss of marine life,”, and explains how the company attempts to avoid hitting whales by slowing down in certain areas of the ocean. Unfortunately, this wasn’t enough to prevent the death of the whale.

One thing that’s certain is that the death is a major black eye for MSC Cruises. Consumers care now more than ever about the environment and sustainability, and this incident is exactly the kind of thing that turns people off. Whether it’s truly the company’s fault or not, their reputation will be marred, at least for the moment.

Luckily, it doesn’t have to be this way. In 2020, a digital map known as Whale Safe was released, hoping to slow the rise of whales being hit by boats. Developed in Santa Barbara and currently operational in California, Whale Safe provides an interesting solution to a growing problem.

The digital map works by compiling acoustic and visual data about where whales are situated on a day-to-day basis, as well as information about weather and water conditions, and distributing it to boats in the area. First, whale calls are detected by using microphones known as hydrophones. When a call is detected, we know that there are whales present. Next, whale sightings from tourist boats and aerial photographs provide exact information on where whales are and sometimes their species as well. Finally, Whale Safe looks at ocean conditions and determines where whales are most and least likely to be on a given day. With all of this information combined, Whale Safe provides a comprehensive picture of the marine life present in major shipping routes off the coast of California.

The last step in the the process that Whale Safe goes through is information distribution. Information about whale locations is made available to all commercial boats.

In areas where whales are prevalent, boats are advised to slow down to a speed of 10 knots, decreasing the chance of a fatal strike. Research has shown that just decreasing speed is enough to significantly reduce the risk of death for nearby whales.

However, not all companies choose to slow down. Because of this, Whale Safe assigns all shipping companies a letter grade, ranging from F to A+. These ratings are visible to consumers and shed light on companies that are not doing their part to avoid hitting whales. A bad grade can hurt a company’s reputation and decrease customer satisfaction, forcing them to adopt the safety policies.

Due to the revolutionary technology created by Whale Safe, our finned friends will be much safer in their home waters. Hopefully, in the near future, Whale Safe will expand its map to include shipping routes across the world. Whale Safe is one step towards a happier and healthier ocean, which benefits us all.

Tech News Story 2: How ShakeAlert Will Keep Us Safe When the “Big One” Comes

A massive fault line, known as the Cascadia Subduction Zone, stretches from British Columbia to parts of California, encompassing large areas of the western coast of North America. Every couple of hundred years, a massive earthquake occurs, and we’re due for one very soon. According to Oregon’s hazard preparation page, scientists expect that it’s not unlikely that an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 or more will occur within the next 50 years.

An earthquake of this size could destroy buildings and cause tsunamis across the world, resulting in major local and possibly global damage to coastal communities. In 2023, an earthquake of magnitude 7.8 struck Türkiye and made buildings crumble, resulting in 55,000 fatalities and 130,000 injuries. Because of this terrible event and the earthquake looming on the horizon, many North Americans are concerned about the effects that a strong earthquake would have on their lives, and are not sure how to prepare for such an event. Luckily, an earthquake alert system called ShakeAlert could help drastically reduce fatalities in the event of a large earthquake. Here’s how it works:

The ShakeAlert system is made up of sensors placed on land and in the ocean. These sensors detect the two different types of waves that earthquakes emit: P-waves and S-waves. P-waves, or pressure waves, are the first waves to form from an earthquake, and can travel long distances in a matter of seconds. Luckily, these waves don’t cause any damage, so they are used to trigger the warning system. Once the system detects the waves, it judges the expected size of the earthquake and sends alerts to every area considered to be in danger. Seconds after the alert is sent, or potentially at the same time as the alert, S-waves, or shock waves, start moving away from the centre of the earthquake. These waves are slower but much more powerful and destructive than the P- waves.

The effectiveness of the warning improves the farther away you go from the epicenter. Because s-waves move more slowly than P-waves, communities on the outskirts of the danger zone can have as much as 60 seconds warning before the S-waves come. With a minute’s warning, surgeons can stop delicate procedures, airports can halt incoming and outgoing traffic, and people can take cover before the earthquake hits.

Even though ShakeAlert doesn’t provide much notice before an earthquake hits, a couple of seconds of warning is enough to save lives. Additionally, the technology has been tested before and it has worked, so it is the best tool we currently have to combat the destruction that earthquakes bring. There’s no doubt that the system will continue to improve in the near future.

Because of this system, North Americans are equipped with the tools to take quick action to save themselves and other people in the event of an emergency. When Cascadia’s earthquake rocks our coastline, ShakeAlert will make sure that we’re ready for it.

SpongeBob Love Song

For this song, I combined Taylor Swift’s “Love Story” and the theme song for SpongeBob SquarePants. I kept “Love Story” as is, but added SpongeBob vocals over top of “Love Story” so that it sounds like SpongeBob is Taylor Swift’s lover.

It’s The End Of The World And It’s Raining Tacos

I took the song “It’s the End of the World as We Know it (And I feel fine)” and added “It’s Raining Tacos” vocals over top of the other song’s instrumentals. I ended up with a song that goes “It’s the end of the world, and it’s raining tacos”.

SpongeBob’s Bus

In this remix, I took the instrumentals from “Wheels On the Bus” and put SpongeBob SquarePants theme song vocals over top to create a song that sounded like a combination of the two.

This link https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/tesla-owner-says-cars-self-driving-mode-fsd-train-crash-video-rcna153345 a news article about a Tesla vehicle in Full-Self Driving mode. The car was not able to detect a moving train, this led to the car receiving significant damage. All of this was captured on video and was shared on social media. The driver, Craig Doty II accused Tesla’s FSD technology as the cause of the crash. Doty said that the car did not slow down while going towards the train. Even though Doty had his hands on the wheel self driving did not steer or stop. He had to manually steer to avoid the train. Doing this caused significant damage to the car. This and other reports have raised concerns about Tesla’s FSD reliability.

Image of Doty’s car.

I believe that this incident just proves how much we need to improve our technology to keep us safe. I also believe that this just further proves that the driver of the Tesla or any other self-driving car needs to pay attention to the road even if they have FSD installed. Also because of the video being shared online, I believe that more and more people are getting more skeptical of these electric cars and further will not even think about getting one. This could severely affect the planet and the carbon emissions.

This link https://www.newscientist.com/article/2431571-ai-can-predict-landmine-areas-from-satellite-images/ is an article about how AI now detects and predicts where land mines are located. They can do this with over a 92 percent success rate. This technology can help because over 60 countries around the world have land mines scattered around.

Image of military personnel extracting landmine in Ukraine.

I believe this technological advancement will help our world become safer after a war. When the war in Ukraine ends we will be able to use this technology to locate and then dismantle many of the landmines that could harm others in the future.

Michael x Pranav Rap Song – “Digital Dash”

The song above demonstrates both myself and Pranav Sandesh’s ability to use online software to create music. After being inspired by the audio mixing project… both myself and Pranav decided to take the knowledge we learned to create our own song using the software Bandlab. We used many different styles in the song for creativity, and many of the lyrics (at the beginning) are inspired by our own digital arts classes.

Tech News 1:

The video above demonstrates a man playing chess with his mind with Elon Musk’s brand new brain chip. I believe this is the craziest technological advancement in human history, and opens a lot of future doors. Imagine a world where we are able to get work done by just simply thinking. This can cut down the time for useless tasks to be completed, such as turning off a light switch. If I could wake up in the middle of the night, and just think about turning my lights on and it would work, that would be such a cool tool to have. I believe what Musk has done here needs more recognition, because this tech is the future of the human species.

Tech News 2:

Apple’s newest technology is the Apple Vision Pro. Essentially, it creates a hologram on a pair of AR goggles and it can do practically anything. For example, you can watch a movie on a 300 inch TV, but the TV isnt actually there. I am fortunate enough to have tried this tech a few months ago, and it is extremely cool and lives up to the rage. I believe the technology is extremely cool, but the price is absurd. $3500 USD for a first edition model is unheard of, and needs to be lowered. Personally, I believe waiting a few years and waiting until a new model is definetly a better idea, as the price will be lowered and the technology will be improved drastically. Otherwise, super cool tech!

My First photoshop

I made this edit in Photoshop, and I’m really proud of how it turned out. The image features a powerful quote: “Life is like a river, sometimes it sweeps you gently along and sometimes the rapids come out of nowhere.” I chose a dramatic, mountainous landscape as the background, with a road that seamlessly transitions into a river. This visual metaphor captures the unpredictable journey of life perfectly

2nd photoshop

I created this edit in Photoshop, and I’m really pleased with how it turned out. The image features a silhouette of a man’s profile filled with a forest scene, symbolizing the journey and depth of life. The quote, “Life is the greatest journey you will ever be on,” is placed thoughtfully to complement the image. I am also really proud of how the man’s head is a mould for the forest in the background.

Tech News

Recently, Netflix released a true crime documentary called “What Jennifer did”, but the haunting subject matter in this documentary is not what I have people upset; instead, there are allegations that Netflix used an AI-generated image(s) to help market the Limited Time series. Again, these are only alleged allegations, there is no concrete proof other than the original image to suggest that it is AI-generated.

  1. Can Netflix use AI-generated content to market a show based on true events?
  2. Is there a difference between fictionalizing some events of the story for the sake of narrative like many true crime documentaries do, or using AI like the show does? Could you argue that True Crime shows the lie in different ways, therefore the AI use here is completely justified.
  3. If a show was being made about you and your life, or an important thing you did, would you be comfortable with AI-generated content being a part of your show, about yourself?

Yes, Netflix can use AI to generate photos and videos. The question here is not asking whether they should use AI, it’s asking if they can and no legal rules are saying that Netflix and other companies are not allowed to use AI.  AI is a tool to help people and companies succeed. So for all those reasons, Netflix is allowed to use AI and there are no legal reasons why they are not able to.  People might argue it is unethical however I see it as a helping guide to create better products for the average customer.

As many of my peers have stated true crime documentaries are supposed to appeal to the average viewer and not actually Show the true event.  To make it easier to watch and digest they will have to use some fake things to make it more dramatic.

3. If a show was being made about you and your life, or an important thing you did, would you be comfortable with AI-generated content being a part of your show, about yourself?

Yes, I’ll be fine if they use some AI to create a documentary about my life. The question is not stating they’re going to use AI for the whole documentary they would just use it for some parts.  AI would help boost sales and would make the documentary more popular making it more fun and appealing to watch for everyday viewers.

2nd Tech News

News analysis co-authored by Google researchers highlights the rapid rise of AI-generated image misinformation online. The study, which includes data fact-checked by sites like Snopes, reveals that AI-generated images have quickly become nearly as common as traditional forms of content manipulation since early 2023. Despite a recent decline in fact-checking AI images, the overall prevalence of AI misinformation remains high, complicating efforts to distinguish real from fake. Instances of AI-generated fake images, such as those involving celebrities like Taylor Swift and Katy Perry, illustrate the widespread impact and challenges of this technology. In response, companies like Google are developing digital watermarking and other initiatives to combat AI-generated fakes.

Response

Firstly AI is meant to help you with your everyday needs, it is to help you to find news and help research. AI photos are the hitch. They trick people into believing what they see on the internet. AI is growing fast and spreading misinformation through photos and videos. This is the one bad thing about AI because it allows people to post fake photos and videos and post it on social media. Social media like Instagram and TikTok are fake enough and having AI photos and videos even adds to the problem.
