Paragraph 1:

This article outlines the new Digital Control, DC,  technology which was implemented into the Curado baitcaster. What this means is that Shimano has created a computer chip that offers a  breaking DC system as well as a unique casting sound to fishing reels. This system allows anglers to cast with greater ease as it reduces the chances that the line will tangle. One of the main problems with traditional baitcasting reels is that they tend to tangle making them very unfriendly for users.  However, the DC is Shimano’s attempt to give everyone the chance to use a baitcaster that offers an enjoyable trouble free experience. Overall, the Curado DC is seen as a smart investment for anyone wanting a high-performing, easy-to-use baitcaster.

The Curado DC is marketed as a reel designed to prevent backlash and tangling but in my opinion, this reel feels more like a money grab. After purchasing and using one myself, I realized that what really draws people to it is the unique “DC whine” sound, not necessarily the technology behind it. While Shimano deserves credit for bringing this advanced technology into reality, I now believe that the regular Curado offers better value. Shimano’s Curado line is already known for producing one of the best reels in the industry and the standard model performs exceptionally well without the added cost of the DC. The DC chip may be a big step forward in fishing gear, but it still feels a bit premature, something that needs more research and development before it’s truly worth the price.

At a Tesla event on October 24, 2024, Elon Musk revealed his new Cybercab, a fully self-operating robot Taxi designed with no steering wheels, no pedals and priced under $30,000.  This new robot is predicted to come out by 2026 or early 2027.  Musk sees this Cybercab transforming the world of transportation as there will be no need to manually park or drive, allowing passengers to relax during commutes. Additionally, Tesla plans to introduce self-driving capabilities to its Model 3 and Model Y vehicles in California and Texas in 2025.  This Tesla event also showcased the Robovan and Anonymous van, capable of carrying up to 20 passengers at one time. With these new self-driving cars Tesla faces ongoing security and legal challenges as well as concerns regarding its full self-driving claims and related safety  aspects.

Tesla’s Cyber Taxi has the opportunity to reduce human error as well as the sometimes harsh conditions that people have to drive in, creating a  more relaxing way of travel.  However, I find it scary that the new vehicles, with fully self-operating features, have no override controls. I am interested to see where Musk can go with this project but I do not want to see only Robo taxis on the road as I believe driving a car is a valuable experience and something everyone should learn. Overall, Musk’s Robot Taxis seem like a good idea and if executed, will have their place on the road but they will not replace the people controlled vehicles that are used everyday.

Paragraph 1

 Tesla’s Optimus is a humanoid robot designed for basic tasks such as walking, lifting, sorting objects and navigating terrains; it does this through the power of AI.  Elon Musk introduced Optimus in 2021 then developed a prototype in 2022 followed by Optimus Gen 2 in December of 2023.  Optimus Gen 2 showed an improved mobility and dexterity allowing it to balance on one leg and walking on uneven terrain.  Elon Musk plans to produce his project Optimus this year targeting a price of $30,000 and for that price Elon Musk  wants to help you with household chores  and everyday life. Overall, this robot is a personal Butler but without a personality.

Paragraph 2 

I think that Elon Musk was right about this project, that this robot could really be useful for many people. For example, people in Elderly Homes and even with disabilities could use this robot as not just a tool but almost like a caretaker as this robot could be their arms and legs. Allowing them to be dependent and not have to count on other people. The catch for me  is the price as $30,000 could get a regular person a car or better yet a robot Taxi as in many cases that would be a lot more useful. To conclude, for many people this machine would be a necessity but in some cases this robot could be more than just a robot.

The product I chose is called the Ray Ban Meta sunglasses. These are a revolutionary piece of new tech and could offer a lot to day to day life. These sunglasses are able to capture video in 2592 x 1944 pxVideo resolution as well as capture images in 12 MP ultra wide. Other benefits than photography and videography include the ability to make calls and send text messages all with a simple voice command. There have been over 2 million sales since the start of the product. These sunglasses have been growing increasingly popular and have helped people share their experiences throughout their day to day life.

These Ray Ban Metas beyond just their convenience, they have the potential to change how people interact with the world around them. However, their ability to record video or capture data raises important questions about privacy and surveillance. As they become more popular, they could transform everyday experiences, but it’s crucial to consider the ethical issues that come with this new level of accessibility. 

I chose The Apple Vision Pro. This is a revolutionary new piece of tech that brings augmented reality into everyday life. With ultra-high-resolution displays and advanced spatial audio (whatever that is), it allows users to interact with digital content as if it’s part of their real-world surroundings. The device supports features like video calls, gaming, and productivity tasks, all controlled by gestures, voice, or eye movements. Though the technology opens up exciting possibilities, there are concerns about its high cost and how it might affect social interactions and screen time as it becomes more integrated into daily routines.

The Apple Vision Pro represents a major advance in immersive technology, blending augmented reality with daily life in an unprecedented way. On the positive side, it could cause us to rethink how people work, play, and communicate, offering new levels of interactivity and immersion (kind of like the Meta Quest Pro). However, the device also raises questions about the growing reliance on digital experiences, potentially encouraging more screen time and detaching users from the physical world. Additionally, it’s expensive as heck which could limit access, creating a divide between those who can afford this futuristic tech and those who can’t. While the Vision Pro paves the way for exciting advancements, its social impact, particularly on human interaction and accessibility, must be carefully thought through before purchased

I used my editing skills to create this edit of my skiing. All of the videos that I posted in this section were made on capcut because I was away without my laptop but the same principals still apply.

Apple tech conference screen mirroring

This tech conference was about iPhone to MacBook screen mirroring. This tech conference talked about mirroring  your phone’s screen onto your laptop. Because of this technology, people  can view documents, videos, and pictures taken with their phone on their laptop. It also allows multitasking, allowing people to work  on their laptop and phone at the same time. It also makes sharing materials between  two devices easier. Those who use many devices for work will find this technology very helpful. They  can see  their work and access it from any device.

I think this is a good tool for when you’re working because it makes it easier to share photos from your phone to your laptop. It eliminates the need to carry around multiple devices, as well as the need for wires or cables. For schools this might be an issue because schools are trying to eliminate phone usage and this would make it easier to use a phone without anyone knowing.

Apple tech conference Ai text editing and photo

A recent tech conference was released about Apple’s new AI which edits on pieces of text and email and finds photos in your camera roll when you type a description into a search engine. This technology has the ability to help make communication more efficient and accurate. It can also free up time for users to focus on more important tasks, saving a massive amount of time. AI-based editing can also help to reduce errors and improve the overall quality of communication. Searching for photos based on a caption makes it easy for your device to figure out your likes and dislikes from your photos.

I think this is a useful tool for when you are trying to write something you don’t care about such as an invite to something and it is able to edit your texts which will make it easier to read peoples texts and you can type faster because you know it will edit it. I think it is a little creepy though with the AI photo because you have no clue what apple will do with this information.
